Connecting Filming Locations in Movies... Creating a 'Gisaengchung' Tour Course
Seoul City and Seoul Tourism Foundation Plan Fam Tour with Film Experts
Developing Course Linking Seoul Filming Locations of The Host, Memories of Murder, Okja, and A Dog of Flanders at Planning Stage
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] A tourist course is being created targeting locations in Seoul that served as filming sites for the movie "Parasite."
The Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Tourism Foundation announced on the 13th that they plan to organize a "FAM Tour with Film Experts" based on representative Seoul filming locations featured in the movie.
After conducting this event-style FAM tour, they are also considering developing it into a tourist course. First, they plan to provide information so tourists can easily find the locations, install guide signs at the filming sites, and set up photo zones to enhance visitor convenience.
The main filming locations in Seoul featured in Parasite include "Dwaeji Ssalsuper" in Mapo-gu, the stairs of Jahamun Tunnel in Jongno-gu, and "Sky Pizza" in Dongjak-gu. These filming sites, already introduced on the Seoul Tourism website in December last year, have been viewed over 60,000 times.
The city and the foundation plan to develop a tourist course linking not only Parasite but also other representative works by director Bong Joon-ho, such as "The Host," "Memories of Murder," "Okja," and "Dog of Flanders," focusing on their Seoul filming locations. They are also in the planning stages of FAM tours involving domestic and international film fans and film industry influencers.

Joo Yong-tae, Director of the Tourism and Sports Bureau, said, "The major filming locations of the film 'Parasite,' which is making new history, have become pilgrimage sites visited not only by domestic but also foreign fans," adding, "We will make every effort to turn this into an opportunity to inject new vitality into our tourism market, which is currently facing difficulties."
