Haenam-gun Cancels Ttangkkeut Maehwa Festival, Advises Against Large-Scale Events
Tourist Experience Events Suspended Until Novel Coronavirus Situation Resolves
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 10th that it has canceled the 8th Ttangkkeut Maehwa Festival, which was scheduled to be held at Bohae Maesil Farm in Haenam from the 7th to the 15th of next month, due to the spread of the novel coronavirus.
In addition, large-scale events that gather many people, such as the Dalma Godo walking event scheduled for the 29th and various cultural performances and film screenings hosted by the county, have also been canceled to refrain from holding such events.
At tourist sites, disinfection and sterilization are conducted twice a day, and masks and hand sanitizers are provided for visitors. Meanwhile, permanent experience programs at major tourist sites such as the dinosaur fossil site are temporarily suspended.
Earlier, traditional village folk festivals planned to be held in 25 villages across 13 towns and townships in the county to celebrate Jeongwol Daeboreum were either canceled or scaled down to only ritual ceremonies excluding performances.

A Haenam-gun official stated, “We plan to cancel or scale down events and performances that gather many people until the coronavirus infection is resolved,” adding, “We will prioritize the safety of residents and take proactive measures to prevent infectious diseases.”
