Government: "37 Wiring Harness Factories in China to Resume Operations on the 10th"
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced on the 10th that out of about 40 wiring harness (wire) component factories in China, 37 are expected to resume operations.
According to the ministry, many local governments in China extended the Lunar New Year holiday, resulting in all wiring harness production factories being shut down until the 5th.
As of the 9th, the ministry stated that 27 factories have started limited production, and 37 are expected to be back in operation within the day.
The Chinese government is granting operation approvals only to production facilities that have completed quarantine measures such as masks, hand sanitizers, thermometers, and other commuting guidelines.
However, since it takes time for local Chinese employees to return from their hometowns to workplaces and commuting restrictions are still in place, it is expected that it will take some time before normal operations are fully restored.
The ministry has been transporting production parts domestically via air and sea since last weekend, and some shipments are expected to arrive today as well.
Additionally, the ministry plans to work with local Chinese governments to ensure that all remaining factories without operation approval can smoothly resume operations.

A ministry official said, "We will make every effort to establish local quarantine systems for component companies and ensure no disruption in domestic parts transportation by cooperating with the complete vehicle industry for expedited customs clearance, emergency financial support, and on-site inspections."
