China's Novel Coronavirus Death Toll Rises to 908... Confirmed Cases Reach 40,171 (Update)
[Asia Economy Beijing=Special Correspondent Park Sun-mi] The number of deaths due to the novel coronavirus infection in China has risen to 908. The number of confirmed cases has also surpassed 40,000.
On the 10th, the National Health Commission of China (NHC) announced that as of midnight, 3,062 new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus were reported across China. Among the 3,062 cases, 2,618 are from Hubei Province, where the outbreak originated in Wuhan.
The number of new deaths in one day reached 97. Ninety-one deaths occurred in Hubei Province, with additional deaths reported in Anhui Province (2), Heilongjiang Province (1), Jiangxi Province (1), Hainan Province (1), and Gansu Province (1). The number of newly added suspected cases is 4,008.
As of this day, a total of 40,171 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus have been reported across China. Among them, 3,281 patients have recovered and been discharged, and 908 have died. Currently, 35,982 confirmed patients are receiving treatment, of whom 6,484 are classified as severe cases, indicating that the death toll is expected to continue rising.
The current number of suspected cases is 23,589, and among a cumulative total of 399,487 close contacts, 187,518 are under medical observation.
