Prime Minister Jeong to Hold Expanded Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters Meeting Today...Focus on Decision to Deploy Third Charter Flight
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun will preside over a meeting of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCH) for the expanded response to the novel coronavirus infection (Wuhan Pneumonia) at 3 p.m. on the 9th at the Government Seoul Office.
At the meeting, discussions are expected on the domestic and international spread trends and situation assessment of the novel coronavirus, whether additional measures are needed for immigration control, guidelines for large-scale events to block community transmission, various support measures, and additional repatriation support plans for Korean residents in Wuhan.
Particular attention is focused on whether a plan to deploy a third chartered flight for Korean residents remaining in Wuhan will be decided. Previously, the government deployed two chartered flights on the 30th and 31st of last month, transporting 701 Koreans.
It is reported that more than 200 Korean residents and their families remain in Wuhan and the surrounding Hubei Province area.

On the previous day, Prime Minister Chung held a preliminary meeting at the Ministry of Health and Welfare conference room in the Sejong Government Complex with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Strategy and Finance Hong Nam-ki, Director of the Office for Government Policy Coordination Noh Hyung-wook, ministers of Health and Welfare, Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, as well as working-level officials from each ministry. They shared the response status of each country, the crisis alert level, and discussed follow-up measures such as the management of quarantine supplies.
