[Asia Economy Reporter Son Sun-hee] President Moon Jae-in held the credential presentation ceremony for the new ambassadors to South Korea from China and Japan on the 7th.
On the morning of the same day at the Blue House, President Moon received credentials from Sing Haiming, the new Chinese Ambassador to South Korea, and Domita Koji, the new Japanese Ambassador to South Korea. The ceremony was attended by Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha and Noh Young-min, Chief of Staff to the President who previously served as Ambassador to China.
President Moon received credentials from Ambassador Sing and Ambassador Domita respectively and took commemorative photos. The credential presentation ceremony is a procedure in which an ambassador submits the original copy of the credentials received from the head of state of their home country to the head of state of the host country in order to carry out their duties in the host country.
At the ceremony, Ambassador Sing, the Chinese Ambassador to South Korea, said in Korean, "Honorable Mr. President, it is an honor to present the credentials from Chairman Xi Jinping," which brought a bright smile to President Moon's face.

After the ceremony, President Moon moved to the reception room with Ambassadors Sing and Domita and engaged in conversation. Given the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (Wuhan pneumonia), related discussions are expected to take place. Additionally, there is a possibility that issues such as compensation for forced labor victims during the Japanese colonial period and the termination of the Korea-Japan General Security of Military Information Agreement (GSOMIA) may be mentioned with Ambassador Domita.
