Dongkuk Steel Mill, Operating Profit of 164.6 Billion KRW in 2019... Up 13.5% YoY
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Dongkuk Steel announced that its consolidated operating profit for 2019 (provisional) was 164.6 billion KRW, an increase of 13.5% compared to the previous year. During the same period, sales decreased by 5.1% to 5.6584 trillion KRW, and a net loss of 81.7 billion KRW was recorded due to the reflection of equity method losses from overseas subsidiaries.
On a separate basis, sales decreased by 5.8% to 5.0554 trillion KRW, while operating profit increased by 17.8% to 133.7 billion KRW. However, net loss continued at 130 billion KRW compared to the previous year due to impairment losses and other factors.

A Dongkuk Steel official explained, "As a decrease in sales volume is expected due to reduced demand this year, we plan to focus on strengthening profitability."
