Geumcheon Cultural Foundation Publishes Report on 'Cultural Resource Survey for the Development of Local Culture in Geumcheon-gu'
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Geumcheon Cultural Foundation (CEO Yongjin Lee) announced on the 6th that it has published the report titled “Cultural Resource Survey for the Development of Local Culture in Geumcheon-gu,” which includes analysis of local culture and cultural resource surveys in Geumcheon-gu.
This research report publication was conducted as part of the local culture promotion project “Our Village Culture Tong(Jong)” carried out by Geumcheon Cultural Foundation in 2019. It is the second cultural resource survey research conducted since the “2012 Geumcheon-gu Culture and Arts Mid- to Long-term Development Plan” implemented in 2012. The study was conducted to broaden understanding of Geumcheon-gu’s local culture, discover usable cultural resources, and prepare measures to revitalize local culture.
The report reflects the characteristics of Geumcheon-gu and classifies the content into five categories: △ Human Resources: population change trends, generations, comparison by neighborhood △ Social Resources: organizations and groups, networks, institutions △ Physical Resources: natural environment, spaces and facilities, transportation facilities, Seoul Future Heritage △ Cultural and Artistic Resources: history and cultural assets, festivals, events, local activities, cultural and artistic programs △ Economic Resources: industries, commercial districts, etc. The report is organized with visualizations by category to make the content easy and convenient to understand.
Based on the published report, Geumcheon Cultural Foundation plans to grasp the current status of local culture in Geumcheon-gu and suggest directions regarding “utilization of cultural resources and network connections” and “discussions on cultural policies and the Geumcheon cultural vision.”
The “Cultural Resource Survey for the Development of Local Culture in Geumcheon-gu” report will be distributed to individuals, institutions, and organizations in need, and can also be downloaded from the “Cultural Projects” section on the Geumcheon Cultural Foundation website (www.gcfac.or.kr).
Yongjin Lee, CEO of Geumcheon Cultural Foundation, stated, “Through this research survey, we aimed to expand the scope and discussion of local culture in Geumcheon-gu,” adding, “Reflecting the characteristics of the basic autonomous district unit rather than a metropolitan scale, we plan to continuously discover cultural resources in Geumcheon-gu and connect them to cultural policies and projects.”
