'Marijuana Smoking' CJ Eldest Son Lee Seon-ho, Suspended Sentence Again in Appeal Trial (Comprehensive)
[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] Lee Seon-ho, the eldest son of CJ Group, who was prosecuted for inhaling marijuana and smuggling it into the country, was sentenced to a suspended prison term again in the second trial.
The Criminal Division 5 of the Seoul High Court (Presiding Judge Kim Hyung-doo) held the appellate trial sentencing hearing for Lee, who was charged with drug offenses, on the 6th and sentenced him to 3 years in prison with a 4-year suspension, the same as the original trial. Probation and 40 hours of drug treatment lectures, which were not imposed in the original trial, were also ordered. The original order to confiscate 27,000 won was maintained.
The court stated, "The amount smoked and the scale of smuggling were large, and strict measures are necessary for drug crimes." However, it added, "The defendant admitted all the crimes and pledged never to commit crimes again," and "considering that this is his first offense without prior criminal punishment and that his health is not good due to aftereffects of a traffic accident."

Lee was arrested and indicted last year for secretly bringing in variant drugs such as marijuana candy while entering through Incheon Airport. He was released after receiving a suspended prison sentence in the first trial and has been undergoing trial without detention.
