German RBB Vocational School Visits Gwangju Automation Equipment Technical High School

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Robert Bosch Berufskolleg (RBB) vocational school in Dortmund, Germany, visited Gwangju Automation Equipment Technical High School (Principal An Gyuwan) for educational and cultural exchange.
According to the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education on the 5th, from the 30th of last month, 16 people including 13 students from the RBB vocational school in Dortmund, Germany, accompanying teachers, and the principal (headmaster) visited Gwangju Automation Equipment Technical High School and are conducting educational and cultural exchange activities over a one-week schedule.
Korean and German students formed 1:1 friendships and communicated in English while participating in lodging and experiential learning.
They engaged in educational exchange through a sequence control project study in the electrical field, as well as cultural experiences such as a temple stay at Hwaeomsa Temple in Gurye, visits to Mokpo Natural History Museum and riding the marine cable car, the National Asia Culture Center, Yangdong Market, and the National May 18th Democratic Cemetery.
They also conducted industrial tours of companies such as Kia Motors Corporation, Hwacheon Machinery Corporation, and Korea Alps Corporation.
Gwangju Automation Equipment Technical High School has been conducting educational exchanges with RBB vocational school since 2017, but this is the first time that the RBB principal and students have come to Korea.
In September last year, Gwangju Automation Equipment Technical High School and RBB vocational school signed an educational exchange business agreement in Germany.
Marcus Herber, principal of the German RBB school, said, “It was great to see Korean and German students forming 1:1 teams to participate in project classes and cultural experiences together, facilitating technical and cultural exchange between the two countries.” He added, “Especially, the temple stay, which allowed students to experience the life of monks, was an opportunity that German students could never have in their lifetime, and the warm and friendly attitude of Koreans welcoming guests was very touching.”
Hong Yejin, a student at Gwangju Automation Equipment Technical High School, said, “It must have been scary and intimidating since Korea was an unfamiliar place, but I want to say thank you and appreciate my partner Alice who trusted me and followed me.” She added, “Thanks to this experience, I think I will be able to communicate confidently when I go abroad.”

Meanwhile, RBB vocational school is a state school located in Dortmund, Germany, with 3,000 students and 130 faculty members, specializing mainly in IT vocational education.
