In the press release, the Jeongui Party Jeonnam Provincial Party stated that although everyone has made efforts to block the infectious disease, the occurrence of the 16th confirmed case of the novel coronavirus in Gwangju confirmed that Jeonnam can no longer be considered a safe area.
First, to prevent further spread of the infectious disease, it is most important for the public and government to unite and block community transmission.
While confirmed cases initially appeared mainly among those who had visited Wuhan, from the 6th patient onward, additional infections occurred through person-to-person contact. Currently, efforts by quarantine authorities and medical staff are managing the situation relatively well, but there is concern that if community transmission is not properly blocked, it could spread on a large scale.
Furthermore, to block community transmission above all, it is necessary to transparently disclose patients' movement paths and firmly establish a cooperative system with local governments and private hospitals.
Next, urging fundamental measures to block the novel coronavirus infection, they emphasized that since the incubation period is long and the transmissibility is very strong, the urgent priority is the prompt reinforcement of personnel at regional medical institutions designated as screening clinics, epidemiological investigators, and quarantine stations.
Additionally, they added that if it is difficult to expand personnel, securing private professional personnel even temporarily should be considered.
