"Never Do Politics" 'Gaetongryeong' Kang Hyung-wook Rejects Recruitment by Liberty Korea Party
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Seulgi Kim] Dog expert and 'Dog President' Kang Hyung-wook declined an offer to join the Liberty Korea Party.
According to the JoongAng Ilbo on the 5th, Kang Hyung-wook received a proposal from the Liberty Korea Party to "work together on animal-related policies" but refused.
Kang said, "I was contacted by the Liberty Korea Party. I am honored and grateful that they considered me, but it's absurd," adding, "Politics seems to be a very frightening matter."
He continued, "When the Liberty Korea Party said, 'Let's at least talk about dogs,' I told them I absolutely have no desire to engage in politics," and added, "I am just someone who trains dogs. I didn't even run for class president when I was young. I disliked wearing a badge."
According to the media, the Liberty Korea Party agreed in an internal meeting at the end of last year to recruit an expert on companion animals.
A party official said, "With the increase of single-person households and the breakdown of traditional families, the general public's interest in companion animals is explosively increasing," and added, "Therefore, the party planned to create a companion animal policy advisory group and appoint Kang as its head."
