Gangnam-gu Selected as Grade 1 in 2019 Anti-Corruption Policy Evaluation
Best among Local Governments with Various Anti-Corruption Policies Including Integrity Promotion Planning Team and Resident Auditors
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jeong Soon-gyun) received a Grade 1 (highest) rating in the '2019 Public Institution Anti-Corruption Policy Evaluation' hosted by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission last month.
The evaluation classified the anti-corruption activities performance of 270 public institutions nationwide from November 2018 to October last year into five grades. Gangnam-gu scored high in ▲expanding participation in integrity policies ▲establishing anti-corruption systems ▲efforts to eliminate corruption risks, achieving 88.30 points, far exceeding the average of 77.2 points for basic local governments subject to evaluation and the overall average of 82.5 points for all 270 institutions.
Notably, the district rose from Grade 2 in 2018 to the highest grade after the inauguration of the 7th local government, proving 'Integrity Gangnam without Corruption.'
Last year, the district actively introduced and promoted various anti-corruption policies, including ▲an Integrity Promotion Planning Team composed of 31 departments ▲diagnosis of corruption risks among high-ranking officials ▲an integrity meal ticket system to block entertainment ▲mandatory integrity education and self-diagnosis system for employees ▲open information system for private contracts ▲sending integrity letters and text messages ▲and operation of citizen auditors.
