[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) held an "Emergency Quarantine Measures Meeting for Traditional Markets" at 4:30 PM on the 4th in the Planning Situation Room on the 5th floor of the district office.
This was to prepare countermeasures against the decrease in visitors and sales at traditional markets due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection.
At the meeting, Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol of Dongdaemun-gu, heads of related departments, and chairpersons of local traditional market merchant associations attended and focused on discussing quarantine measures within traditional markets to prevent the novel coronavirus infection.
Based on discussions with the traditional market merchant associations, the district plans to thoroughly implement quarantine measures in traditional markets.
First, a professional quarantine company will be commissioned to conduct disinfection from the 10th to the 15th of this month at 20 traditional markets in the area, covering 3,094 stores, public restrooms, and passageways.
Additionally, banners related to the disinfection will be posted at market entrances to alleviate visitors' anxiety.
Along with this, hand sanitizers and masks to be distributed to market visitors will be prepared promptly and supported to the traditional markets.
Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol of Dongdaemun-gu stated, "We ask for the active efforts and cooperation of all merchants so that visitors can safely use traditional markets and prevent anxiety caused by the novel coronavirus infection in advance," and added, "The district will also spare no support to suppress the spread of the infection, including quarantine."
