Launch of the 6th Generation of New Designers at Busan Fashion Creation Studio
20 Brands Gathered in One Place to Sign Business Agreement
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Yoseop] The 6th generation of emerging designers at the Busan Fashion Creation Studio has launched and is stepping forward for the development of Busan's fashion industry.
According to Busan City on the 4th, the Busan Design Promotion Agency and 20 fashion designer brands, including the 6th generation of emerging designers at the Busan Fashion Creation Studio, signed a business agreement on the 30th of last month at the Promotion Agency to foster representative Busan brands in 2020.
Since 2015, Busan City and the Promotion Agency have been operating an incubating support project to nurture emerging designers at the Busan Fashion Creation Studio, striving for local talent development and the advancement of the fashion industry.
The Busan Fashion Creation Studio houses a total of 20 designer teams, consisting of 7 teams from the 4th generation, 4 teams from the 5th generation, and 9 newly selected teams from the 6th generation last month.
The Busan Fashion Creation Studio selects emerging designers active in Busan and nurtures them through various support projects, including providing personal creative spaces and shared workrooms (manufacturing equipment rooms, photo studios, showrooms, etc.) for up to three years, supporting prototype production costs based on creative activity evaluations, lookbook production costs, consulting and mentoring, participation in domestic and international exhibitions and fashion shows, and promotional marketing.
Last year, as a result of supporting activities such as participation in a total of 80 domestic and international exhibitions and fashion shows, the studio recorded a total of 9 awards, including the Seoul Fashion Week Best Emerging Designer Award (SEOKWOON YOON) and Generation Next 20. There were a total of 206 domestic and international (online and offline) store entries, generating sales of 941 million KRW.

Kang Kyung-tae, Director of the Busan Design Promotion Agency, stated, “From the 4th to the 6th of next month, 20 brands belonging to the Busan Fashion Creation Studio will participate collectively in a joint booth at the ‘2020 Daegu Fashion Fair,’ and 6 brands will showcase their brand creations in a joint fashion show.”

The Promotion Agency plans to further accelerate the nurturing of global brands that can represent Busan's textile fashion industry through support for the 4th, 5th, and 6th generations of emerging designers.
