Large Waste Pickup Service... Gangdong-gu's One-Stop Dream for Low-Income Households
Partnering with Recycling Centers to Expand Services from This Month... Chiwodream · Deobureodream · Haengbokdream... Warm Community, Realizing Resource Circulation
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangdong-gu (District Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) is starting the ‘One-Stop Dream Service’ this month, which supports low-income households with used goods gift certificates and large waste item pickup services.
The purpose is to create a warm community by sharing recyclable items needed by vulnerable groups and to realize resource circulation.
Gangdong-gu changed the service method from simply providing goods to supporting gift certificates that allow recipients to choose items directly, and newly expanded the service contents to provide more benefits to vulnerable groups.
To this end, on January 9, the district signed a business agreement with Recycle City Co., Ltd., a local recycling center.
The One-Stop Dream Service is divided into three categories: Chiwodream, Deobureodream, and Haengbokdream.
‘Chiwodream’ is a service that collects unnecessary large waste items by visiting and handles disposal in a one-stop process. It is expected to be especially helpful for households that have difficulty placing large waste items at designated locations, prioritizing support for vulnerable groups such as elderly living alone and disabled households. The goal is to support about 10 households every Saturday, totaling 40 households per month.
Next, ‘Deobureodream’ is a service that supports gift certificates for recyclable goods. Recipients can visit Recycle City (recycling center) and purchase necessary items such as home appliances, furniture, and daily necessities using the gift certificates. The items will be delivered and installed at home free of charge. Approximately 3 million KRW worth of gift certificates will be provided per household, with a monthly total of about 40 million KRW.
Lastly, ‘Haengbokdream’ provides free accommodation vouchers for Healing Resort pensions, planning to support 360 rooms annually so that low-income households can soothe their tired bodies and minds.
The One-Stop Dream Service targets low-income groups such as basic livelihood security recipients, near-poverty groups, single-parent families, disabled households, and child-headed households. Candidates are recommended and selected through visits and investigations by welfare departments and community service centers, actively identifying and supporting marginalized groups that may be overlooked within the legal framework.
