Government Allocates 4.8 Billion KRW in Special Tax Grants to Prevent the Spread of Novel Coronavirus
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 3rd that it will urgently provide 4.8 billion KRW in special disaster and safety grants to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (Wuhan Pneumonia) as the number of confirmed cases and those who have come into contact with them increases.
The grants will be used for novel coronavirus quarantine activities, purchasing disinfectant supplies, and strengthening the promotion of daily safety guidelines.
The Ministry explained that the amounts were determined based on the population of each city and province as well as the status of confirmed cases and contacts.
Chungbuk and Chungnam, where temporary living facilities for Korean residents returning from Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China?the epicenter of the novel coronavirus?are located, will each receive 700 million KRW. Additional support includes installation and operation of vehicle disinfection facilities for facility entry and exit, and provision of quarantine supplies to nearby areas.
The support amounts for other regions are as follows: Seoul and Gyeonggi each 600 million KRW; Jeonbuk 300 million KRW; Busan, Daegu, Gangwon, Gyeongbuk, and Gyeongnam each 200 million KRW; Gwangju, Daejeon, Ulsan, and Jeonnam each 100 million KRW; Sejong and Jeju each 50 million KRW.
