Hong Seok-cheon "China's Ban on Foreigners Entering Feels Like Our Country Is One Step Behind"
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] Broadcaster Hong Seok-cheon expressed his stance on the ban on foreign nationals entering China.
On the 2nd, Hong Seok-cheon shared a news video on his social network service (SNS) stating, "The US and Australia have recently banned foreigners who visited China in the past two weeks from entering the country," and began by saying, "A decision half a step ahead is the best prevention. Our country feels half a step behind."
According to the shared news, Australia implemented border measures from the 1st that ban all foreign travelers departing from or transiting through China from entering the country.
Singapore bans entry of foreigners who have visited mainland China, Japan bans entry of foreigners who stayed in Hubei Province, China, Vietnam has suspended issuing tourist visas to foreigners visiting China, and Guatemala and El Salvador have implemented policies banning travelers departing from China.
Hong Seok-cheon said, "I support everyone working hard on quarantine efforts. Policies need to be made quickly. Some interpret my writing politically, but please do not send such messages. I am speaking as one citizen about prevention."
