Gwangyang City Closes Public Contest for Tourism Slogan Submission
615 Submissions Received, 10 Selected in First Round, Second Round Survey via City Website Until 7th, Final Review by Investigation and Adjustment Committee to Confirm Slogan and Develop BI
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Gwangyang City in Jeonnam announced on the 3rd that it has closed the public contest for the Gwangyang tourism slogan and will begin a public preference survey on the 10 slogans that passed the selection committee review.
The preference survey, in which the public directly participates in slogan evaluation, will be conducted through the Gwangyang City Hall website until the 7th.
An event is also planned where participants who join first and those whose participation number is a multiple of 30 (30, 60, 90...) will receive a small prize.
In last month’s contest, the city received 615 young and creative slogan submissions, selected 10 through the selection committee, and will choose 6 excellent works through this preference survey.
The slogans that passed the selection committee are: ‘Take Gwangyang Whole’, ‘You’re Welcome Even Alone, Gwangyang!’, ‘G.Y. = Gwangyang’, ‘Tourism N Gwangyang’, ‘Dasi (多視) Again Gwangyang’, ‘Again Gwangyang, Therefore Gwangyang’, ‘365 Days Happiness Comma 36.5 Degrees Gwangyang Travel’, ‘Where to Tourism? Gwangyang Here!’, ‘Gwangyang Opening the World with Light and Life with Travel’, and ‘The Moment You Leave for Gwangyang, Shining Now’ ? a total of 10 slogans.
After the preference survey is completed, the city will hold a municipal coordination committee meeting to conduct the final evaluation based on symbolism, originality, and completeness.
The results of the municipal coordination committee evaluation and the preference survey will each be weighted 50%, and the top scorers will be selected as grand prize, excellence, etc., with the results announced on the city’s website.
The grand prize winner will receive 500,000 KRW, two excellence winners will each receive 300,000 KRW, and three encouragement winners will each receive 100,000 KRW. However, if the winner is a Gwangyang citizen, the prize money will be given in Gwangyang Love Gift Certificates equivalent to the amount.
Jung Youngmi, head of the Tourism Marketing Team, said, “We thank the many citizens who showed interest and participated in the Gwangyang tourism slogan contest,” and added, “We ask for active participation in this preference survey to create the vision for Gwangyang tourism together with the public.”

Meanwhile, once the representative Gwangyang tourism slogan is finalized, an integrated design (BI) will be developed to focus on spreading the image of Gwangyang tourism.
