Gyeonggi-do Provides 'Rental Housing and Housing Cost' Support to 257,000 Households
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will supply a total of 46,000 public rental housing units this year to stabilize housing for low-income households and provide housing costs to 211,000 low-income households.
In addition, a survey will be conducted on child housing poverty households living in poor housing conditions, and 8 rental housing units will be supplied as a pilot project. In particular, through a city and county public contest method, 10 apartment complexes will be selected to promote a pilot project for an electronic approval system to replace paper documents.
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 4th that it has prepared the "2020 Gyeonggi Province Comprehensive Housing Plan," which includes the supply of public rental housing and support measures for housing-vulnerable groups this year. This plan is Gyeonggi Province's housing policy established annually under the "Housing Act."
The province selected key tasks for this year, including ▲ supply of demand-tailored rental housing ▲ strengthening inclusive housing support based on demand ▲ accelerating the Gyeonggi Happy Housing project ▲ fostering a transparent and efficient apartment management culture, preventing poor construction through apartment quality inspections and technical consultations, improving the residential environment and strengthening safety management of small-scale apartments ▲ and promoting urban regeneration projects reflecting the local conditions of old downtown areas.
First, to supply demand-tailored rental housing, the province will supply a total of 46,000 rental housing units, including 33,000 public construction rental units and 13,000 purchased and jeonse rental units.
Along with this, a survey will be conducted on child housing poverty households in the blind spots of housing welfare through the Gyeonggi Housing Welfare Center, a specialized housing welfare institution, and a pilot project to supply 8 rental housing units by Gyeonggi Urban Innovation Corporation will be promoted.
Also, as part of the policy to strengthen inclusive housing support based on demand, housing costs averaging 156,000 KRW per month will be provided to 210,000 households out of 211,000 housing benefit recipients. For 1,000 households owning homes, a housing improvement support project of up to 12.41 million KRW will also be implemented.
The low-income housing environment improvement projects include the Sunshine Housing project (450 units), an energy efficiency housing renovation project; the G-Housing project (120 units), a private talent donation housing renovation project; and a housing renovation project for the disabled (155 units).
The province will also carry out the "Housing Financial Cost Support Project for Vulnerable Groups," providing up to 2 million KRW per unit for rental deposits to 1,050 new rental housing tenants.
Additionally, 50 vulnerable households will be selected to receive up to 100 million KRW in jeonse deposit support, and the number of households eligible for jeonse loan guarantees and interest support for low-income groups will be increased by 1,000 from last year to 1,860 households.
In particular, to stabilize housing for young people and overcome low birth rates, 7,672 units of the Gyeonggi-type rental housing called "Gyeonggi Happy Housing" will be supplied this year. The supply breakdown includes 2,490 units with project approval, 3,487 units with public announcement started, and 1,695 units for move-in.
To foster a transparent apartment management culture, the province will continuously promote quality inspections for housing quality improvement (130 complexes), operation of technical advisory groups for repair work (520 times), support for maintenance and repair costs of aging apartments (160 complexes), and safety inspections for old small-scale apartment complexes (245 complexes).
Furthermore, the province plans to actively consult with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to select 9 urban regeneration New Deal projects and to steadily promote small-scale urban regeneration projects.
