View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Ki-dong] Mokpo City Medical Center announced on the 3rd that Dr. Lee Won-gu, Ph.D. in Medicine and Economics, who previously served as the director of Gwangju Veterans Hospital, was inaugurated as the 13th director on the 1st.
Newly appointed Director Lee Won-gu, considering the seriousness of the spread of the novel coronavirus infection, omitted a separate inauguration ceremony and immediately began work on the first day of his term, which was a holiday, starting with an inspection of the emergency medical system.
Director Lee Won-gu (age 71) was born in Muan, Jeonnam, attended high school in Mokpo, graduated from Chosun University College of Medicine, earned master's and doctoral degrees from the same university, and also obtained a Ph.D. in Economics from the same institution, making him a doctor of both medicine and economics.
Having served as an adjunct professor at Chosun University and Yonsei University College of Medicine, director of the Armed Forces Donghae Hospital, the 5th and 6th director of Gwangju Veterans Hospital, and director of the Gwangju Seo-gu Public Health Center, Director Lee Won-gu has demonstrated outstanding abilities in hospital management. His inauguration is drawing attention to the greater development of Mokpo City Medical Center, a public medical institution.
Director Lee Won-gu said, “I feel a heavy responsibility in taking on the important role of director of Mokpo City Medical Center, the only public medical institution in the region,” and added, “I will do my best to provide high-quality medical services with responsible leadership.”
