Actor Ha Jung-woo reflected on the path he has walked as an actor.
On the afternoon of the 31st, Ha Jung-woo shared various stories about the film Closet (directed by Kim Kwang-bin) during an interview held at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.
That day, Ha Jung-woo spoke candidly about living as a 17-year veteran actor since his debut in the 2003 film Madeleine.
Ha Jung-woo said, “Now, the time I have lived as Ha Jung-woo and the time I have lived as Kim Sung-hoon (my real name) are becoming similar. I feel that fewer people are meeting me as Kim Sung-hoon,” adding, “Even my parents sometimes feel awkward calling me ‘Sung-hoon.’ Sometimes it’s a bit sad and poignant.”
He continued, “Sometimes I suddenly wonder, ‘Where did Kim Sung-hoon go?’ I have no choice but to put aside much of Kim Sung-hoon’s daily life. For about 10 years, I have only thought about movies, filmed them, met with film people, then released films and checked the scores. Whether good or sad, I continuously face the results. That has become my life,” he reflected.
Ha Jung-woo said, “Within this, I am trying to find a breakthrough and turning point. From 2018 until now, I have been running without rest. Now, I want to catch my breath and reflect on what attitude I should take to face what comes next,” he revealed.
Closet is a mysterious story about a father who searches for his daughter who disappeared without a trace after moving into a new house, and a mysterious man who claims to know the secret of the incident.
Ha Jung-woo plays the character Sang-won, who lost his wife in an accident and is raising his young daughter alone. He leads the story by portraying the desperate feelings of a father searching for his suddenly missing daughter and the fear of encountering a mysterious presence. The film is set to be released on February 5.
