The 7th Recruitment by the Korean Party... Disability Welfare Expert Lee Jong-sung, Secretary-General
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The Talent Recruitment Committee of the Liberty Korea Party announced on the afternoon of the 31st at the Irum Center in Yeouido-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, that Lee Jong-seong, Secretary General of the Korea Association of Persons with Physical Disabilities, will be the seventh recruit of the year.
Secretary General Lee is a disability welfare expert who has worked on the ground for over 20 years, contributing to the establishment of support centers for convenience facilities for persons with physical disabilities at the central association and 16 metropolitan and provincial offices in 2004, and leading disability awareness improvement program education for 88,718 students at 285 schools while working at the Korea Employment Security Association for Persons with Disabilities.
Based on his long experience of discrimination as a person with a physical disability and various administrative experiences, he pledged to engage in political activities aimed at creating a welfare society where persons with disabilities can be happy, rather than repetitive desk administration and showy or patchwork policies. Secretary General Lee said, "I have received recruitment offers from the Korea Party several times and after long consideration, I decided to accept the party membership," adding, "I thought it was a way to create the welfare society I dream of through the Korea Party and to contribute even a small part to the development of a free democratic nation."
He continued, "Having lived my entire life with a disability, I have directly experienced the discrimination and structural contradictions in our society," emphasizing, "While working on the ground for over 25 years to solve disability issues, I realized that efforts on the ground alone have limitations, which gave me a strong will to engage in political activities."
