[2020 Asia Consumer Awards] NongHyup Distribution Returns Benefits to Farmers and Consumers through Distribution Innovation
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] Established in 1995, Nonghyup Distribution is an agricultural product distribution specialist company dedicated to returning profits to farmers and consumers. Currently, it operates 28 business locations, including 2 Agricultural Product Comprehensive Distribution Centers, 22 Hanaro Marts, and 4 byproduct sales offices.
Nonghyup Distribution continues efforts to innovate the distribution system. The agricultural product distribution route, which previously involved more than 6 to 7 steps, has been drastically reduced to 3 to 4 steps or fewer, and logistics order and delivery tasks are efficiently managed to reduce distribution costs. The profits gained through this are returned to agricultural producers and consumers, contributing to improving farmers' real benefits and stabilizing consumer prices. Distribution efficiency has also been enhanced through reserved quantity transactions and logistics mechanization at the Nonghyup Anseong Agricultural Food Logistics Center, a wholesale delivery center.
It is also striving to secure sales channels for domestic agricultural products in response to imported agricultural products. Nonghyup Distribution sells only 100% fresh and safe domestic agricultural products. In addition to direct trade events at production sites and media promotions, every Wednesday is designated as 'Food Safety Check Day' to ensure safe food. The company also operates a three-strike-out system, where if residual pesticides exceed the standard more than three times, permanent shipment bans are enforced.
It actively engages in sharing activities with underprivileged groups. Nonghyup Distribution operates the 'Hanaro Volunteer Group,' composed of its employees, conducting regular volunteer programs to assist elderly living alone and youth. In the spirit of urban-rural coexistence, it also carries out rural love campaigns such as one company-one village rural labor support. Since May 2016, it has been operating the 'Nonghyup Distribution Angel Friends Volunteer Group.' Every year at the end of the year, executives and employees collectively contribute to the 'Angel Friends Fund of Love,' which is donated to colleagues facing illness, disadvantaged neighbors, and social welfare organizations.
