Gwanak-gu Supports High-Risk 'Households Requiring Intensive Care'
Selected 246 High-Risk Households Requiring Intensive Care for Mobility-Impaired and Bedridden Patients... Establishing a Dense Safety Net through 'Human Care + Ultra-Close Smart Care' Initiative
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) is attracting attention by promoting a new special care project for high-risk low-income single-person households.
The district announced that it will select "households in need of intensive care" among single-person households requiring care and establish a reliable social safety net through the "Human+Smart Care" system.
The newly selected "households in need of intensive care" are 246 ultra-high-risk households requiring assistance in crisis situations such as mobility-impaired and bedridden patients, out of the 3,017 high-risk households previously managed.
The new services planned for households in need of intensive care are divided into human care through ▲installation of electric and gas safety devices ▲IoT-based care services ▲smart care using U-119 Safety Call linkage ▲connection and cooperation with living support workers for elderly living alone ▲establishment of emergency contact systems for caregivers and disability activity support workers.
First, through the "Smart Care" project, the electrical and gas status of target households will be checked, and fire alarms and gas shut-off devices will be installed if necessary to ensure residential safety for single-person households.
Also, by utilizing IoT technology, smart plugs will be installed in middle-aged households and smart water meters in elderly living alone households to monitor electricity and water usage and prevent crisis situations.
Support will also be provided for subscribing to the "U-119 Safety Call" linked with the Fire Agency. In case of an emergency, notifications are sent to registered children or siblings, and the patient's medical information is pre-identified for prompt and customized response.

Additionally, "Human Care" will be promoted by linking with home service personnel who regularly visit the target households, establishing a crisis response system including continuous care and emergency contact maintenance. The district plans to focus all efforts on accident prevention for ultra-high-risk single-person households through a dual care system of "Smart + Human Care."
Mayor Park Jun-hee said, "I believe the best welfare for high-risk single-person households is attention and prevention," adding, "We will build a delicate care system unique to Gwanak-gu through various care projects using smart devices suitable for the 4th industrial era."
