Im Jong-seok: "Yoon Seok-yeol Prosecutor General is Closer to Politics than Investigation"
Facebook Reveals 30-Day Prosecutor Appearance Schedule... "Prosecutor General's Personnel Authority Abuse Exercised Arbitrarily"
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] Former Presidential Chief of Staff Im Jong-seok wrote on his Facebook on the 29th, "This case, which Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol and some prosecutors have pushed forcefully, is closer to politics than an investigation," and claimed, "They are not pursuing objective facts but are planning and fabricating it with political motives."
Former Chief of Staff Im stated, "I will appear at the prosecution as a suspect tomorrow (the 30th) morning. Although there were discouragements to go privately, I have decided to disclose the entire process of this case," revealing this. It is noteworthy that a former Presidential Chief of Staff pointed out the current Prosecutor General as a 'political motive planning.'
Former Chief of Staff Im asserted, "Prosecutor General Yoon suddenly transferred the case, which the prosecution in Ulsan had kept under wraps for 1 year and 8 months, to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office," and "Then, he began to draw a completely irrelevant picture targeting the Blue House. While covering up other cases, he focused almost exclusively on this matter and expanded the investigation into separate cases."
Former Chief of Staff Im said, "They have unhesitatingly conducted raids on the Blue House, the Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and the National Police Agency, and persistently summoned more than 20 Blue House staff members. We will watch together with the public to see what comes out."
Former Chief of Staff Im defined, "I regard this case as an abuse of prosecutorial power exercised arbitrarily by the Prosecutor General to achieve political objectives," and added, "I will not prejudge whether it was to block legislation by the National Assembly or resistance to personnel matters. However, Prosecutor General Yoon has lost the public's trust in the prosecution rather than achieving his intent."
Former Chief of Staff Im added, "In the Prosecutor General's attitude clinging to this case, there is neither minimal objectivity nor fairness," and urged, "I strongly call for deep reflection on whether they are going down the wrong path of political intervention and election interference beyond excessive investigation."
