Seoul City Holds 'Clean Gyeongbuk Project' Performance Report Meeting
Over 100 Companies Participate, Total of 300 Seoul Youth Involved

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Seoul City announced on the 29th that it will expand the 'Clean Gyeongbuk Project,' which was promoted together with Gyeongsangbuk-do to increase youth employment and revitalize the local economy, nationwide this year.
The city plans to provide participation opportunities to a total of 300 Seoul youths with the participation of more than 100 companies nationwide. The activity period for youths will also be extended from 6 months to 10 months.
The Clean Gyeongbuk Project is an opportunity for 45 Seoul youths to engage in work and social contribution activities for 6 months in 5 regions of Gyeongbuk. The participating youths worked at 19 participating companies located in the 5 regions of Gyeongbuk, including agricultural corporations, tourism businesses, social enterprises, and cooperatives, where they learned beer brewing and engaged in various activities such as agricultural processing. They worked 32 hours a week and spent 8 hours interacting with local residents at child welfare institutions, elderly care centers, and other places, conducting social contribution activities. Labor costs were matched 1:1 by Seoul City and Gyeongsangbuk-do, providing a monthly salary of 2.2 million KRW. Among the participating youths, one is about to be converted to a full-time position, and another plans to continue living in Gyeongbuk and challenge entrepreneurship.
At 12 PM on the same day, the city will hold a performance sharing meeting at Local Stitch Sogong branch in Jung-gu, where Mayor Park Won-soon will award certificates of completion in the name of the Seoul Mayor to the participating youths.
Youth recruitment for this year will begin on the 10th of next month. Any youth aged 19 to 39 residing in Seoul can participate.
