Mapo-gu Selected as an 'Excellent Institution' for Civil Complaint Services for 3 Consecutive Years

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Mapo-gu (Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun) was selected as the ‘Best’ institution in the ‘2019 Comprehensive Civil Service Evaluation’ hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
The district was selected as an ‘Excellent’ institution in 2018 and as the ‘Best’ institution last year, achieving the remarkable feat of being recognized as an excellent institution for three consecutive years.
The ‘Comprehensive Civil Service Evaluation,’ conducted nationwide targeting 304 institutions including central administrative agencies and metropolitan and basic local governments, is a system that comprehensively evaluates the level of service at the civil service interface, such as civil administration management foundation, civil administration activities, and civil service performance.
The evaluation period covers from October 1, 2018, to September 30, 2019.
The main evaluation contents include three areas: ▲civil administration management foundation ▲civil administration activities ▲civil service performance; five items: ▲civil administration strategy and system ▲operation of civil service systems ▲handling of civil complaints via the National Sinmungo ▲handling of grievances ▲civil service satisfaction, totaling 19 indicators. The district received excellent results evenly across all evaluation items.
Among these, the major projects highly recognized for their value include ▲policy communication platform ‘Mapo 1st Street’ ▲expansion and distribution of ACC to support communication for the disabled ▲efforts to resolve group conflict complaints ▲operation of a dedicated grievance handling organization ▲activation of local ombudsman operations.
In addition, the district also received favorable evaluations for the institution head’s will and interest, as well as incentives provided to civil service officers in charge of civil complaints.
As a result of this evaluation, the district has once again proven itself as the best institution in all areas of civil service, widely promoting the status of ‘Working Mapo.’
