Dobong-gu Youth Startup Incubator Space 'Mujungryeok 1/6, Dal' Opens
Operation of Youth Startup Incubating Space No.1 on the 14th...Free Startup Space for 3 Months, Mentoring Provided to Participants
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dobong-gu (Mayor Lee Dong-jin) opened the first youth startup incubating space, ‘Mujungryeok 1/6, Dal,’ next to ‘Mujungryeokjidae Dobong’ (75 Madeullo 11-gil, Dobong-gu) on the east side of Changdong Station on January 14, to support the successful food and beverage startups of young people.
‘Mujungryeok 1/6, Dal’ was named with the intention of reducing the burden on young entrepreneurs to one-sixth, like the moon’s gravity which is one-sixth of Earth’s gravity.
The district remodeled a 9㎡ space, previously used as a kiosk in the old Changdong Cultural Square, into a food and beverage startup incubating space, taking advantage of the high foot traffic at Changdong Station.
The district actively supports prospective entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into actual startups by △providing free startup space for 3 months △conducting mentoring with successful entrepreneurs △supporting electricity and water bills.
The first participant, selected through a public recruitment process in November last year, chose Taiwanese snacks (danbing, sandwiches) and fruit milk tea as the main menu. After the 3-month operation period ends, the second participant will introduce ‘scones made with healthy ingredients.’
Additionally, Dobong-gu plans to recruit two teams of prospective entrepreneurs to operate the ‘second half of 2020 incubating space’ in early April through a public announcement on the Dobong-gu Office website (www.dobong.go.kr). Any local youth interested in or preparing for food and beverage startups can participate.

Lee Dong-jin, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “Prospective entrepreneurs have a great opportunity to directly experience managing the space for 3 months and validate their prepared business models,” adding, “I hope they succeed in the actual startup field based on the experience and lessons gained from operating the incubating space.”
