KOTRA Holds Emergency Meeting on Wuhan Pneumonia... "Full Effort on Export Monitoring and Response"
[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] On the morning of the 28th, KOTRA held an emergency countermeasure meeting at the main conference room of its headquarters in Yeomgok-dong, Seoul, in response to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection. The emergency countermeasure meeting was attended by all executive staff, including KOTRA President Kwon Pyung-oh and heads of each division, office, and team at the headquarters.
At the meeting, KOTRA established an emergency response team at the headquarters, led by the Head of the Economic and Trade Cooperation Division, and activated a daily reporting system to monitor and disseminate information on trends in various countries as well as movements of buyers and investors. Meanwhile, they also checked the safety status of employees and businesspeople operating overseas and decided to prepare countermeasures for the expected disruptions in export and investment attraction projects related to China.
KOTRA President Kwon Pyung-oh stated, "We are concerned that the spread of the novel coronavirus infection may adversely affect our exports, which have been showing a rebound this year. We will closely monitor related trends and their impact on our exports, take appropriate measures according to the stages of the spread, and, if necessary, actively respond to ensure no damage to our companies' export activities by postponing export marketing and investment attraction projects scheduled for the first half in the China region, promoting alternatives in other regions, and holding non-face-to-face video consultations."
