Expansion of Talent Development Programs on the Occasion of the 'UN International Day of Education'

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] BMW Group announced on the 28th that it will carry out a project to support the education of 1 million young people worldwide over the next five years in celebration of the 'UN International Day of Education.'
Under the slogan "Think global, Act local," BMW Group has been promoting various education support programs developed according to the characteristics of each country. As an automobile manufacturer, it supports everything from basic education for underprivileged children to practical training directly linked to employment, based on its expertise. Approximately 400,000 children and young people have benefited.
This support plan is an expansion and strengthening of the talent development programs that BMW Group has been conducting in each region. Previously, UNESCO announced a global education status report stating that more than 260 million children worldwide are in educational blind spots.
Ilka Horstmeier, BMW Group Board Member and Head of Human Resources, said, "Education is the driving force that leads our society and prepares the future economy," adding, "Through close collaboration with local partners, we are enhancing the competitiveness of underprivileged youth in the job market and creating sustainable solutions that allow them to dream of a better life."

Meanwhile, BMW Group Korea has also been conducting projects focused on nurturing future talent through the BMW Korea Future Foundation, launched in 2011. The representative flagship project, 'Junior Campus,' is headquartered at the BMW Driving Center located in Yeongjongdo, Incheon, providing science and creative education. In particular, the Mobile Junior Campus, which is a modified 11.5-ton truck, directly visits children in rural areas with relatively poor educational infrastructure to provide education, contributing to reducing educational disparities between regions.
