Candidate Kim Myung-jin stated, "A knowledge welfare city refers to a city that transcends the limits of material welfare to improve citizens' quality of life and realize happiness in life," adding, "We will enhance Seo-gu residents' access to information and satisfy their intellectual needs by signing an MOU for business cooperation between the Gwangju Representative Library, which is scheduled to be newly established on the site of the Sangmu incineration plant, and the National Assembly Library."
He promised, "Through the 'Small Library Expansion Project,' which utilizes idle spaces in public facilities such as community centers and private facilities in each neighborhood as small libraries, we will activate programs targeted at residents, parents, children, and youth, making these spaces serve as community salons and resting places for residents."
He added, "We will also install silver libraries in senior centers to provide the elderly with opportunities to enjoy leisure through reading, bringing us one step closer to becoming a knowledge welfare city."
