Sampyo Group to Introduce 'Connected System' for Ready-Mix Concrete Vehicles Within the Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daeseop] Sampyo Group announced on the 26th that it will introduce a connected system to ready-mixed concrete (Remicon) vehicles, the first in construction machinery, within this year.
This system is equipped with Internet of Things (IoT) technology that collects driving information such as driving history and habits, providing drivers with various convenience and safety services. According to the Road Traffic Act, commercial freight vehicles and buses are required to adopt such systems, but construction machinery like Remicon vehicles are not included.
The group developed and successfully commercialized the industry's first dedicated navigation system for Remicon vehicles in 2015. Recently, it upgraded the system to a freight vehicle-specific guidance system that enhances safety and efficiency.
Functions such as 'maintaining intervals between moving Remicon vehicles and providing work status guidance,' 'real-time monitoring of construction site conditions,' 'automatic route guidance for destination sharing of vehicle resources,' and 'voice message guidance service' were added to the existing navigation system, significantly improving efficiency and safety.
While the previous navigation system only provided basic information about the operation status of the vehicle ahead (one vehicle) and the construction site, the newly introduced upgraded version checks the intervals and work status of four vehicles ahead and behind, enabling safer driving. It also improves efficiency by providing detailed information about the destination construction site.
Functions to assist safe driving were also added. Entry to dangerous areas such as narrow roads, height-restricted roads, and weight-restricted bridges is fundamentally blocked. The operation method was enhanced by adding voice services, greatly reducing the risk of accidents while driving.

A Sampyo Group official said, "Through the dedicated navigation system, drivers can drive safely, and since it helps reduce traffic congestion, it will greatly contribute to improving the traffic environment. Also, with the introduction of the connected system, it will not only encourage safe driving habits but also enable vehicle failure prediction and improve transportation accuracy."
