Until now, household waste disposal sites have been a chronic source of complaints due to excessive odors and deterioration of city aesthetics caused by indiscriminately discarded garbage and damage to garbage bags by stray cats.
Accordingly, the city plans to install and pilot operate 24 “household waste separation bins” designed in the shape of the marine cable car at densely populated residential areas and near one-room apartment complexes, with plans to expand installation in the future to transform household waste disposal sites into more pleasant places.
In addition, to create a pleasant urban area, the city will operate the “Mokpo Love Movement Cleanliness Task Force” to regularly wash the disposal sites with water, thoroughly clean remaining debris, and disinfect to reduce odors, minimizing citizen inconvenience through continuous management of disposal sites.
Furthermore, to eradicate illegal dumping, the city will expand the operation of mobile surveillance CCTVs in vulnerable areas and promote various public awareness campaigns to improve citizens’ consciousness.
