Naju-si Strengthens 'Livestock Infectious Disease Prevention Measures' During Lunar New Year Holiday
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 22nd that it will strengthen quarantine measures to prevent livestock infectious diseases such as avian influenza (AI) and African swine fever (ASF) in anticipation of large-scale movement of returning visitors and vehicles during the Lunar New Year holiday period.
The city plans to operate the 'Lunar New Year Livestock Infectious Disease Prevention Measures' period until the 29th and actively promote mass disinfection of livestock farms, intensive inspection of vulnerable facilities, and public campaigns to prevent infectious diseases.
To this end, it will focus on five major prevention tasks: ▲establishing a 24-hour emergency contact system ▲operating six base disinfection and farm checkpoints ▲conducting mass disinfection before and after the holiday ▲intensive on-site inspection of vulnerable areas ▲and promoting prohibition of visits to livestock farms by returning visitors.
In addition, base disinfection facilities and control checkpoints will be installed to control and disinfect livestock vehicles. On the 23rd and the upcoming 28th, mass disinfection of livestock facilities such as farms, slaughterhouses, and feed factories will be conducted, along with the application of quicklime around farm entrances.
The city will post 'No Entry to Migratory Bird Habitats' banners at major locations in towns, townships, and neighborhoods to alert returning visitors and tourists, and will intensively promote quarantine methods and behavioral guidelines when visiting farms through available media such as village broadcasts and SNS.

Mayor Kang In-gyu said, “We ask for the active interest and cooperation of citizens and returning visitors to protect the livestock infectious disease-free area this winter,” and added, “Since quarantine may become vulnerable due to large-scale movement during the holiday, livestock farmers should strictly follow quarantine rules, and citizens and returning visitors should refrain from visiting migratory bird habitats and livestock farms as much as possible during the holiday period.”
