Ministry of Science and ICT Grants Reauthorization to 14 D'Live-affiliated SO Companies
[Asia Economy Reporter Seolgina Jo] The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 22nd that it will relicense 14 companies affiliated with the comprehensive cable broadcasting operator (SO) D'Live.
The license validity period is five years from the 28th of this month to January 27, 2025, and the applicable companies are ㈜D'Live, ㈜D'Live Gyeonggi, ㈜D'Live Gyeongdong, ㈜D'Live Guro Geumcheon, ㈜D'Live Nowon, ㈜D'Live East Seoul, ㈜D'Live Mapo, ㈜D'Live Northern, ㈜D'Live West Seoul, ㈜D'Live Songpa, ㈜D'Live Yongsan, ㈜D'Live Woori, ㈜D'Live Jungnang, and ㈜D'Live Jungang, totaling 14 companies.
This relicensing is the first case applied after the Enforcement Decree of the Broadcasting Act, which requires each corporation to apply for licensing and relicensing, was implemented last year. Previously, applications for comprehensive cable broadcasting business licenses were required for each of the 78 broadcasting areas.
As a result of the Ministry of Science and ICT's relicensing evaluation, all 14 D'Live affiliated SO companies scored 650 points or higher out of a total of 1000 points, meeting the relicensing criteria (650 points or higher).

An official from the Ministry of Science and ICT stated, "Based on the evaluation results, we imposed relicensing conditions regarding securing fair competition in the paid broadcasting market, investment in new services and facilities, and coexistence with partner companies. We plan to conduct regular performance checks to ensure that these relicensing conditions are faithfully observed in the future."
