According to Newsis on the 21st, the van featured in the ghost story was confirmed to be a police vehicle assisting women and others in safely returning home late at night.
A representative from the Dongducheon Police Station told the media, "Our police officers, who were patrolling to help a citizen walking alone on a dark road, spoke to them to ensure a safe way home. It seems that misunderstandings arose, leading to various speculations," adding, "We will strengthen our security activities further so that citizens do not feel anxious."
Earlier, on the 15th, a post titled 'Must Read' was uploaded on the Facebook page 'Reply Dongducheon.'
The author began, "I wanted to inform everyone about what happened today, so I am writing this post."
He explained the situation, saying, "After finishing work today, I was walking home around 10:40 p.m. Then, a suspicious-looking van made a U-turn from the opposite direction and stopped. I thought, 'Maybe they are waiting for someone,' and headed home."
He continued, "As I entered behind a building, the van pulled in and stopped in front of a villa, then turned off its lights. The person sitting in the passenger seat said, 'Hey student, come here for a moment.' When I heard the call, I looked back, and suddenly I heard the sound of the vehicle door opening, so I immediately started running toward my home."
The author said, "The van made a U-turn after seeing me. It stopped to match my walking speed. The lights were turned off, and the person in the passenger seat called me. I heard the sound of the vehicle door opening. I am still scared and trembling," adding, "I don't remember the vehicle or its number, nor the person's face."
