On the 21st, Gyeongbuk Province announced that it has prepared special quarantine measures to prevent the introduction of livestock diseases due to the movement of people and vehicles, such as returning holiday travelers and overseas tourists, during the Lunar New Year holiday.
On the 22nd and 29th, before and after the Lunar New Year holiday, livestock facilities including livestock farms, slaughterhouses, and feed factories will be disinfected simultaneously.
Operators of livestock facilities will disinfect the inside and outside of the facilities, entrances, surrounding roads, and incoming vehicles, while city/county offices and livestock cooperatives' joint quarantine teams will focus on blocking and disinfecting vulnerable areas such as small-scale farms, traditional markets, densely populated breeding areas, and migratory bird habitats.
Additionally, banners with quarantine guidelines such as prohibition of illegal importation of overseas livestock products and refraining from entering farms will be installed at highway entrances and exits, bus terminals, and stations where many returning travelers and tourists pass through.
Quarantine guidelines for livestock facilities will be intensively promoted through village-level broadcasts and mobile phone text messages.
