View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Lee Seok-hyung, a preliminary candidate for the National Assembly representing Gwangsan-gap, Gwangju Metropolitan City from the Democratic Party of Korea, announced on the 20th his second pledge among the top three priority tasks, stating, "We will attract the '2029 Gwangju International Horticulture Healing Expo' to Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, and elevate its status as a new international model."
On the morning of the same day, the '2029 Gwangju International Horticulture Healing Expo Attraction Preparation Briefing' was held at Lee Seok-hyung's campaign office, attended by more than 20 people including Han Tae-ho, professor of horticulture at Chonnam National University, and Ahn Hong-gyun, Korean representative of the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH), who agreed to work together to attract the expo.
The preliminary candidate said, "Gwangsan-gu has well-developed transportation infrastructure with easy access via Songjeong Station, Gwangju Airport, and highways, making it the optimal location to host the 2029 Gwangju International Horticulture Healing Expo," adding, "We will discover various cultural contents unique to Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, and transform it into a city bustling with people 365 days a year."

To this end, the candidate emphasized, "We plan to create a large-scale international horticulture industrial complex spanning 500,000 pyeong, featuring floriculture and fruit trees in glass greenhouses, integrating production, distribution, and logistics transportation with smart cutting-edge technologies such as IT and AI," and added, "We will form a consultative body regarding the development plans for local enterprises of resident farms and organizations within the complex, and seek multifaceted cooperation with the government, Gwangju Mayor Lee Yong-seop, and Gwangsan-gu Mayor Kim Sam-ho to expand support measures and institutional improvements, making Gwangsan-gu a city ideal for horticulture."
