S-OIL's 14th Year of 'Seollal Love Rice Cake Soup Sharing' in Jjokbangchon
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] On the 20th, S-OIL carried out a volunteer activity called 'Sharing Love with Tteokguk for Lunar New Year' at the homeless free meal center of Gwangya Church in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul.
CEO Hussein Al-Katani, along with about 100 employees and retired executives, distributed tteokguk to elderly living alone in jjokbangchon, disabled people, and homeless individuals in the surrounding area, and delivered gift packages containing tteokguk rice cakes, beef, tangerines, ramen, and other food items to about 500 households in the jjokbangchon area around Yeongdeungpo Station.
Al-Katani, who celebrated his first Lunar New Year in Korea, said, "Given the difficult domestic and international circumstances, the warm hands of helping neighbors are more needed than ever," adding, "I hope that the residents will warmly welcome the Lunar New Year through the love-filled tteokguk sharing that S-OIL and its employees have continued here for over 10 years."

Since 2007, S-OIL has been conducting the 'Sharing Love with Tteokguk' volunteer activity every Lunar New Year with employees participating as volunteers to support residents of jjokbangchon and homeless people for 14 years. In addition, S-OIL continuously supports neighbors in need by providing heating oil and briquettes to energy-vulnerable groups during winter.
