Prosecutors Raid Gwangju City Hall... Vice Mayor Jeong Jong-je Accused of Election Law Violations

According to Gwangju City on the 17th, from 10 a.m. for about an hour and 30 minutes, the prosecution searched Deputy Mayor Jeong's office, official residence, and the Gwangju Urban Railway Corporation.
The prosecution, which was investigating allegations of preferential treatment in private parks in Gwangju, reportedly discovered evidence that some public officials recruited members for the Democratic Party during a search and seizure of Gwangju City and Gwangju Urban Corporation in September last year.
The prosecution also seized the mobile phones of Deputy Mayor Jeong and three others and is investigating them as suspects for violating the Public Official Election Act.
Deputy Mayor Jeong is reported to claim that he never asked for party member recruitment.
