Yeosu City to Pay Farmers and Fishermen Public Interest Allowance of 600,000 Won Annually
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do announced on the 17th that it will support a budget of over 8.6 billion won this year for the Public Interest Allowance for Farmers and Fishermen.
The Public Interest Allowance for Farmers and Fishermen is a system first implemented nationwide by Jeollanam-do and its cities and counties, recognizing the multifunctional roles and public value of agriculture, fisheries, and rural areas.
The recipients are farmers and fishermen who have registered as agricultural and fishery business operators, have continuously resided in Yeosu since before December 31, 2018, and are actually engaged in agriculture or fisheries.
However, those with non-agricultural income exceeding 37 million won, those who have fraudulently received subsidies such as direct payments, public officials or employees of public institutions and their household members, or those who share residence with eligible business owners but have separated households are excluded from receiving the allowance.
To receive the Public Interest Allowance for Farmers and Fishermen, applications must be submitted to the local eup/myeon/dong office through the village head or community leader from the 20th of this month until the 21st of next month.
Yeosu City plans to pay the annual 600,000 won allowance in two installments: 300,000 won in May and 300,000 won in October, both in Yeosu gift certificates.
