[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Young-gyun] Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gu Chung-gon) announced on the 16th that it will officially operate the 2020 agricultural education program to enhance farmers' capabilities in cultivation techniques, marketing, and to increase agricultural income.
This year, the county will conduct a total of 101 sessions across 37 courses in 6 fields, including New Year Practical Agricultural Education (7 courses, 19 sessions), Specialized Agricultural Technology Education (13 courses, 16 sessions), Agricultural Informatization Education (6 courses, 18 sessions), Regional Specialized Crop New Technology Practical Field Consulting Education (6 courses, 13 sessions), Small-scale Farmer Education (25 sessions), and Agricultural Machinery Education (5 courses, 10 sessions).
Participation in the education programs is available through prior registration, and except for the New Year Practical Agricultural Education which started on the 7th, all other courses will recruit and operate students starting next month.
The Agricultural University, now in its 13th term, plans to adjust education hours reflecting farmers' opinions and operate with a focus on field practice education.
The New Year Practical Agricultural Education offers courses necessary for establishing the annual farming plan.
Especially this year, to establish the Positive List System (PLS) for pesticide residue management, all courses will focus intensively on PLS education.
Customized specialized education by crop will also be provided to promote new technologies among farms and produce stable, high-quality local agricultural products, along with delivering useful information that farmers should know to solve current issues.
The Regional Specialized Crop New Technology Practical Field Consulting Education focuses on safe production and income increase of agricultural products through theoretical and field education on crop-specific cultivation techniques, marketing, and distribution. Through education on cultivation techniques for 12 crops including Chodang corn, the plan is to foster one niche crop per town and township.
To address labor shortages due to rural aging and respond to the Fourth Industrial Revolution era, a specialized qualification course for agricultural drones will also be operated.
Ten students will be selected, and farmers who hold a Class 2 regular driver's license and plan to utilize agricultural drones can enroll.
Additionally, agricultural informatization education will be offered to enhance abilities in collecting and utilizing agricultural information, including blog management and video production skills for promoting and selling agricultural products.
An official from the Agricultural Technology Center said, "This year as well, we will develop and operate farming education programs that respond to internal and external environmental changes in the agricultural field and enhance the capabilities of local farmers."
