Damyang-gun Conducts 'Peach Cultivation Training'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Choi Hyung-sik) announced on the 16th that it conducted a 'Peach Cultivation Training' at the Agricultural Technology Center and Yanggak-ri, Damyang-eup on the 15th.
The training, attended by about 50 farmers, began with theoretical lectures on the characteristics of peaches, preparations before pruning, and precautions. Afterwards, participants moved to a nearby farm where expert Jeong Young-il was invited to provide on-site training on winter pruning, which is crucial for winter orchard management of peaches.
A farmer who attended the training said, "It has been seven years since I planted peaches, but I had many difficulties because I couldn't properly shape the tree and didn't know the exact cultivation methods. Thanks to this training, I learned a lot."
Meanwhile, the Agricultural Technology Center will conduct 22 sessions of practical training for 1,460 local farmers by the 13th of next month at the Agricultural Technology Center, town and township office meeting rooms, welfare centers, and other locations. The training aims to help farmers establish new year farming plans, disseminate recently developed new technologies, and solve customized current issues needed by farmers.
