Seoul City Accepts 'Citizen Participation Budget' Applications Until Next Month 28th
Apply through the Metropolitan Proposal and Collaborative Governance Participation Budget Website
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Applications for the 'Citizen Participatory Budgeting,' where citizens participate, receive budgets, and propose projects, will be accepted from the 17th until the 28th of next month.
On the 16th, Seoul City announced that it will accept proposals for metropolitan suggestion-type and metropolitan cooperative-type projects through the Seoul Participatory Budgeting website, by mail, or in person.
The metropolitan suggestion-type (30 billion KRW) projects are those that improve citizen convenience in two or more autonomous districts and solve metropolitan urban problems, while the metropolitan cooperative-type (10 billion KRW) projects involve joint participation of the public and private sectors throughout the entire process. Within the metropolitan cooperative-type, a new Democracy Seoul-linked category has been established, which includes projects that are policy-formed from Democracy Seoul citizen proposals.
Proposed projects undergo preliminary review meetings through the operation of the Public-Private Budget Council, followed by on-site verification. Projects selected for citizen voting go through electronic voting and general assembly approval before final confirmation.
