Gwangju University Holds Completion Ceremony for Nursing Assistant Training Program
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju University (President Kim Hyukjong) announced on the 16th that the Lifelong Education Center held a ‘Visiting Nurse Assistant Training Course Completion Ceremony’ at Baeginkan on campus on the 14th.
The ceremony was attended by Jeong Jaehee, President of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Nurse Assistant Association, Kim Cheolmin, Dean of the College of Health and Welfare Education at Gwangju University, and Jo Jeongsik, Director of the Lifelong Education Center at Gwangju University.
The event included the awarding of certificates to trainees, commendations from the Korean Nurse Assistant Association and the Gwangju-Jeonnam Nurse Assistant Association, as well as awards for academic excellence and merit.
Designated by the Ministry of Health and Welfare as a ‘Visiting Nurse Assistant Training Institution,’ Gwangju University has been operating the ‘1st Visiting Nurse Assistant Training Course’ since April last year, providing a total of 700 hours of education (360 hours theory and 340 hours practical training).
The first cohort of trainees who completed the course on this day plan to work as long-term care workers providing nursing and medical assistance and counseling related to care through home visits to beneficiaries under the Long-Term Care Insurance Act for the Elderly.
Jo Jeongsik, Director of the Lifelong Education Center at Gwangju University, said, “Although there were many difficulties balancing work and study, I sincerely congratulate all who persevered and completed the course,” and added, “I ask that you fulfill your roles and responsibilities for the healthy lives of local seniors based on what you have learned through the training program.”
Meanwhile, the Lifelong Education Center at Gwangju University is recruiting students for the ‘2nd Visiting Nurse Assistant Training Course’ targeting nurse assistants with more than three years of experience until the 20th of next month.
