[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] SK Telecom is creating an ICT environment to care for elderly people living alone in Chuncheon City, Gangwon Province, and to educate students at special schools.
On the 16th, SK Telecom announced that it signed a "Business Agreement for Creating Social Value Based on ICT Technology" with Chuncheon City and the Gangwon Information and Culture Promotion Agency at Chuncheon City Hall. Through this agreement, starting next month, the "AI Care Service" using the voice recognition artificial intelligence (AI) speaker "NUGU" will be expanded for 200 elderly people aged 65 or older living alone in Chuncheon.
The AI Care Service is an ICT-linked welfare service that SK Telecom started last April in cooperation with local governments and the social enterprise "Happy Eco Phone," targeting elderly people living alone in various local governments. It also provides emotional conversations, music streaming services, weather, health knowledge, and other information. In emergencies, it can call 119 by voice alone.
SK Telecom also plans to conduct software education called "Happy Coding School" for students of Gyesung School and Myeongjin School, special schools in Chuncheon. Happy Coding School is a program that uses the smart robot "Albert" and offers a customized curriculum according to the type of disability and learning ability, making it easy and fun to approach basic math concepts and coding.
In addition, a 5GX service complex experience space including a virtual reality (VR) cinema and an augmented reality (AR) zoo will be created around the Chuncheon Seomyeon Animation Museum area.
