[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha held a Korea-Japan foreign ministers' meeting with Japanese Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu on the 14th (local time) in San Francisco, USA, coinciding with the Korea-US and Korea-US-Japan foreign ministers' meetings, exchanging views on mutual interests.
At the meeting, Minister Kang reiterated the position that Japan's export restrictions must be lifted promptly and urged for accelerated dialogue between export authorities to achieve this. Additionally, Minister Kang emphasized South Korea's stance on the forced labor issue, while Minister Motegi mentioned Japan's position.
Discussions also continued on the resumption of North Korea-US talks. Both ministers agreed on the need to continue efforts between the two countries to ensure the North Korea-US dialogue resumes quickly, leading to complete denuclearization and the establishment of lasting peace, and decided to maintain close communication and cooperation at various levels between Korea-Japan and Korea-US-Japan.

An official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained, "Minister Kang mentioned the importance of continuing the momentum of dialogue between the two countries established through last year's summit to resolve Korea-Japan issues, and both ministers agreed to continue dialogue and consultations between their foreign ministries."
