Kim Yong "Finally Understanding Lee Guk-jong's Gloom... The One Who Should Leave Is Yoo Hee-seok"
"I Think I Finally Understand Professor Lee's Feelings"
"Regrettable Behavior of the Medical Center Director's Power Abuse"
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Suwan] On the 13th, former Gyeonggi Province spokesperson Kim Yong criticized the controversy over the verbal abuse by Yoo Hee-seok, the director of Ajou University Medical Center, saying, "The person who should leave Korea is Yoo Hee-seok."
Earlier, MBC released a recording on the same day in which Director Yoo of Ajou University Medical Center was heard verbally abusing Professor Lee.
According to the recording, Director Yoo said to Center Director Lee, "Quit it, you ××. Get lost. You are not even human, you ××. Do you want to fight me?" Professor Lee responded, "No, that's not the case."
In particular, Professor Lee revealed that he even considered quitting the hospital and leaving Korea due to this issue.
Former spokesperson Kim wrote on his Facebook on the same day, "I was troubled by Professor Lee Guk-jong’s remarks when he appeared as a witness at last year's National Assembly Public Administration and Security Committee (PAS) audit," adding, "I now understand the feelings of Professor Lee Guk-jong, who was gloomy and discouraged, thinking 'This is probably the end.'
He further stated, "It is truly regrettable that the medical center director, who does not take care of himself for the sake of patients' right to life and the improvement of the emergency medical system, showers verbal abuse instead of gratitude and compensation."
Former spokesperson Kim continued, "The person who should leave Korea is not Professor Lee Guk-jong but Ajou University’s Yoo Hee-seok. Stay strong, Professor Lee Guk-jong," offering his support.
Professor Lee appeared as a witness at the Gyeonggi Province audit by the National Assembly PAS on October 18 last year and exposed that taxes and national subsidies for the Southern Gyeonggi Regional Trauma Center were being used for unrelated matters.
At that time, he said, "The government supported 2.2 billion won last year to hire 67 nursing staff, but only about half, 36 people, were hired. The remaining financial support was used to pay the wages of existing nursing staff," adding, "I feel guilty for not being able to prevent that."
