The Proportional Liberty Korea Party Preparatory Committee: "A Decision That Would Make King Sejong Cry... Suspecting Election Fraud"
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Cheol-eung] The Preparatory Committee for the Proportional Liberty Korea Party (Preparatory Committee) expressed on the 13th its deep despair over the Central Election Commission's decision to disallow the party name, stating that "the Central Election Commission trampled on the constitutional spirit of political neutrality and the freedom to establish political parties with this decision."
The Preparatory Committee argued, "In December 2015, the current ruling party, ‘The Democratic Party of Korea,’ changed its name despite the existence of the previous ‘Democratic Party,’ and in 1987, both the ‘Peace Democratic Party’ and the ‘Unification Democratic Party’ coexisted simultaneously," adding that "the word ‘Biry?’ (Proportional) is an official term widely used in national matters and everyday life, such as ‘proportional representation members of the National Assembly.’"
"This is an absurd decision that even King Sejong would cry over, infringing on freedom of expression due to political interests and sentencing a specific word to death. The Central Election Commission does not have such authority," they criticized.
The Preparatory Committee stated, "Jo Hae-ju and other regime henchmen within the Election Commission are cancerous elements of South Korean democracy. Nevertheless, we are confident that there are honest public officials within the Election Commission striving to develop democracy through fair elections. We believe they will raise their voices against any external pressure and unjust orders at any time."

They also said, "Today's unconstitutional, irrational, and biased decision is sufficient grounds to suspect that regime henchmen within the Election Commission are scheming election fraud in the upcoming 21st National Assembly elections," adding, "We will take all possible legal measures. At the same time, we will steadfastly proceed with the establishment of a new party that reflects the will of the people angered by dictatorship and election interference."
